The guesthouse
at alambi is situated on flat land near the banks of the Rio
Alambi. At about 1480 metres (4900 feet) above sea level and
a short walk from the equator itself, the climate is pleasant
year-round. The gardens immediately around the lodge are planted
with fruit trees such as lemons, mandarins, banana, papaya,
avocado and guayaba. These trees attract colourful mixed flocks
of tanagers as well as toucans and motmots from the forest.
There is also an orchid garden which showcases some of the
species from the reserve. The forest itself is just a few
minute's walk from the guesthouse.
